Screen sharing and layouts

In a call you can show the others your screen, and choose how everyone is arranged on your own screen.

Sharing your screen

Press Share screen.

Your browser asks what to share, such as the whole screen, one window or, in some browsers, a single tab. Choose, and confirm.

When you are done, press Stop sharing, or use your browser's own stop button.

While you share, you see Sharing screen and a tile named Your screen. Depending on the call, the others see your screen in place of your camera or beside it.

Share from a computer. Phone and tablet browsers, and our mobile app, cannot share a screen.

When several people share

More than one person can share at once. The newest share moves to the front for everyone. When it stops, the front goes to the most recent share still running, and once nobody is sharing, your view goes back to how it was before. If you change your view while someone is sharing, it stays as you set it until a new share starts.

Layouts

The layout button, or the L key, moves through three layouts. It appears once there are at least two people or screens to show.

Auto layout picks for you: with two people, the other person fills the screen and you sit in a corner; with three or more, a grid; while someone shares, Sidebar.

Grid shows everyone at the same size.

Sidebar shows one large tile, with the others in a strip beside it, or below it on a phone.

Pinning

In Grid or Sidebar, point at a tile, or tap it on a phone, and press Pin tile to keep that person or screen large. Pinning in Grid switches you to Sidebar. Unpin tile lets the large tile choose itself again, usually whoever is sharing or speaking. Pinning changes only your own view.

Showing everyone your layout

If you offer services, Show everyone this layout sends your current layout and pinned tile to everyone in the call, for example to put one person's shared screen in front of the whole group. You see Everyone now sees this layout, and the others are told that you changed their layout. They can still change their own view afterwards.

Using it while someone is sharing applies at once. If someone starts sharing after you used it, their share moves to the front, and when sharing ends each person's view goes back to your layout, unless they changed it in the meantime.
